Hola Todos!
It´s been a fun week this week. Elder De La Rosa left for an area called Yamasá and my new campanion is Elder Zapata, from Mao, in the Santiago mission. He´s been in the mission for about nine months, and he´s glad to be working hard. His last companion didn´t ever really want to work very hard and sometimes they didn´t leave the house, and when they did it was mostly to hang-out with the members. He´s willling to work though, and really up-beat. He´s a little crazy, but that just makes everything all the more fun. He´s really small; I´m not sure if he weighs as much as a 100 lbs. It´s wiping him out going up and down all of the stairs in our area, but he´s adjusting well.
We´re still looking for more single peple to teach, but we haven´t had very much luck in that regard this week. Although we´ve found a couple of people who could progress well. Especially one, Wilson. Wilson was someone we met in a street contact a couple of weeks ago and invited to church. Usually everybody tells us that they´ll go to church and never actually go, but to our surprize, Wilson showed up for sacrament meeting that Sunday. Due to his bussy schedule with work and the university we haven´t been able to teach him or to get back into contact with him for a couple of weeks. He showed up in chuch again though yesterday and we´re going to visit him tomorrow. He seems to like church a lot, although he´s never been there for the classes, and I´m looking forward to teaching him.
This week we taught José and Dania about the Word of Wisdom, and it went really well. We found out that they learnt about the Word of Wisdom a coup0le of weeks ago and that José has already been starting to put his life in line with it. One of the members that we´ve taken to visit him was well-known as the most consistantly drunk person in the nieghborhood until a couple months ago, when he and his wife accepted the gospel in their lives. Since then he´s turned his life around and stopped drinking and smoking. With help from this member, José has been making a lot of progress with smoking. He used to smoke a pack of cigarettes every day, but now he´s gotten down to about two cigarettes a day and improving daily. He goes through a lot of lolly-pops now, but that´ll be an addiction we can work on affter his baptism. He also dropped coffee cold-turkey. It really is great to see the effects of the gospel in peoples lives.
