HOla Todos,
We´ve been having a hard time trying to find more people to teach this week. We have some people that are progressing, like Miguel Quesada and Sharitza Camilo, towards their baptismal dates. We do not however, have very many other people to teach. We are working through the members and on our own to find people, but they just aren´t showing very much interest right now. In most of our contacting efforts we introduce ourselves and I ask when the last time was that I talked to the person we´re contacting. To which they usually reply, "about a month or two ago." We then continure to talk to them and I sometimes ask why they didn´t follow through with my invitaion to church the fist time (or the second, or the third, usually the most I´ve invited them is five times. Everyone says they´ll go, wheather they will or not). It´s been interesting to hear their varied excuses, as well as a little humorous to see them fumbling for something to tell me. It´s also been interesting though, to see a couple people step back and ask themselves,"oh yeah, he´s got a point. Why haven´t I gone yet?"
It´s great to see some of the people we are teaching and are progressing steadily though. We only had two of our investigatores go to Conference. (although others opted for wathing it online to avoid having to take a bus to the district center.) I thought it was funny though, to see that they were our youngest and our oldest investidatores, ages 11 and 72. The-11-year-old is Saul, his family are less active members we´re working with and his cousins are Felipe and Sharitza Camilo. Felipe having been recently baptised and Sharitza working toward the same goal. I couldn´t help but think of how those are the two age groups in which people are usually more sincere, as children and as "ancianos." (that´s old folks, for those of you that don´t hablar español) I really love when I get the chance to teach and baptize old men. They really internalize things better and become great priesthood holders and members of the church.
