Hola Todos,
I´m doing well. The earthquake wasn´t felt in my area at all. Niether were the couple of small after-tremmors. Other than a call from my District Leader to see if we were affected and bits and peices of news that I hear in the houses of members and investigators, I haven´t really been affected by it at. The Bishop in our ward stood up and admonished the congregation to start saving up food storage though.
I haven´t been able to help in any of the humanitarian efforts either. They´ve closed the border and aren´t letting anyone else through to Haiti right now. The DR hasn´t really been hurt by the earthquake at all either. I hope that through all of the help being provided to Haiti the predgudices that the Dominicans have against the Haitians.
I´m doing well here in my area. I´m enjoying my new companion, Elder Valdez, and having a good time in general. We´ve been working a lot with the members and finding old investigators lately. My spirits are hight right now. We´ve found a new family to teach of seven people, six of whom are old enough to recieve baptism. The father is actually working on building the chapel that´s under construction in front of our apartment and they all seem very interested and excited about the church. The only problem, as with most families here, is that the parents are "maried by the door", basically meaning that they´re not married at all. I hope to be able to work with them a lot this week and to get thier papers for marriage ready.
Another interesting event; Elder Bednar of The Twelve is coming to talk to us on wendsday. I´m looking forward to what he has to say and excited to be able to hear an apastle speak when it´s not even General Confference yet.
Mom and Dad--- Mom, get better; I´m glad to hear from Dad, but one of the main subjects of his email was about buying a new mouse for his computer. I haven´t had a meeting where I´ve been able to recieve any packages yet, but I should be able to pick them up from the mission office when we go to hear Elder Bednar. I love you guys a ton and hope you get feeling better.
Cuidentes Todos!
